STAHELI WEST, INC.
Advanced Hay Equipment
For Precision Farming
Here are just a Few Ways the
DewPoint 6110 will help you
streamline your operation.
You will discover many more too.

  • You can replace up to 4 Tractors and 4 Balers with Just 1 Tractor, 1 DewPoint 6110 and 1 Baler and make better hay day after day to boot.
  • Lower Labor Costs. Utilize your Labor resources much more efficiently.  No more waiting around for Natural Dew with a crew of baler operators.
  • Plan your harvest schedules with confidence.  You will know you can bale the acres you cut each day because you can create your own baling moisture conditions once the hay is dry.
  • Lower maintenance and repair costs with fewer Tractors and Balers.
  • Enjoy Life. Harvest time can be tough but now you can get your harvest done on time each day so you can actually go to your kid's baseball games or other family activities.

More Details:

Baling on your farm with the DewPoint 6110 opens a whole new world of profitability for your operation with less capital, labor and maintenance overhead and much higher productivity and better hay quality. Please consider the following comparative points:

  • Conventional: With a new 3x4 or 4x4 baler you can bale 40-50 tons per hour in the field.
  • DewPoint: With a new 3x4 or 4x4 baler and DewPoint 6110 you can increase your output to around 56+ tons per hour because of increased bale density which lets you increase your field speed to maintain an equivilent flake count per bale with each flake containing more hay.

  • Conventional: You can bale when there is Natural Dew which is at an acceptable level for baling.  This may range from 0 hours to 4 hours daily.  Some days you may even get more time than that.  It is difficult to project how much baling time you will have ever.
  • DewPoint:  You can bale anytime the hay is dry enough.  In hot desert climates you may want to lay-off baling in the heat of the day,  but in almost any climate you will be able to bale between 12 and 24 hours each day with well controlled baling moisture from start to finish.

  • Conventional: You will likely average 80 to 160 tons of baling per day per unit.
  • DewPoint: You will average 500 to 700 tons of baling in a 10-13 hour day per unit if you want to.  You could do as much as 1200 tons in 24 hours if you really wanted to or if you had a storm coming.

  • Conventional: With a 2 ton/Acre yield you will likely average 40-80 acres of baling per day per unit.
  • DewPoint: With a 2 Ton/Acre Yield you can bale 250 to 350 acres in a 10-13 hour day.  We have even baled 500+ acres in a 24 hour period several times when we had sustained dry winds for several days ahead of storm systems. (Incidentally there was no natural dew during the pre-storm winds.  That would have made high quality conventional baling impossible.)

  • Conventional:  You need operators for just a few hours each day to run each baler.  They either have to wait in the field for the right dew conditions or someone else has to be the field checker and sound the alarm when it's time to go...
  • DewPoint: Your Machine Operators can plan on a good day's work each day.  They can come at a specific time of your choosing and start baling when they get there. Oh, and you can either use far fewer operators or you can expand your business with a predictable business plan.

  • Conventional:  Your Hay Buying Customers will hope that you can get each day's baling done with reasonable baling moisture conditions.  Some may even ask you to take the risk of baling with stem moisture to try to preserve hay leaves.  You may have to try to convince Dairymen that even if the leaves are shattered and separated, the feed value is still there.  (I never liked eating the last bowl of corn flakes off the bottom of the box even though my mom said they were still just as good for me)
  • DewPoint: Your Hay Buying Customers will know what to expect from you every time.  You will be able to bale all of your hay with excellent, controlled moisture conditions, with good leaf retention and bale conformation.  You can count on a certain number of acres and tons being baled each day.  You will be able to plan your entire season more accurately with predictable results.

  • You will need 3 - 4 conventional Balers, 3 - 4 Tractors and 3 - 4 Operators to do the same amount of work as  Just 1 DewPoint Equipped Baler/Tractor combo which will produce higher quality .

Real Challenges, Real Solutions

One Custom Baling Operator in Idaho who is using conventional large square balers told us that he spends several hours every night driving between fields chasing dew with his balers in the areas where he works.   He starts in the low lying areas where the dew comes on earlier and then when the heavy dew drives him out he roads the  balers to the next place and so on until he can't go anymore.   He says it is a hassle and wastes a lot of time and money, but until now it has been his only alternative.
__________

Another Operator in New Mexico says he uses Three conventional 4x4 balers, to bale One Pivot (120 acres) of hay each day.  It takes them about 1-1/2 hours to finish.  He has had to do some creative things to keep his good baler operators in work the rest of the day and the rest of the year.  The DewPoint system will allow him to bale many more acres with higher quality results and keep more work ahead of his operators.
___________

A Custom Baling Operation in Arizona is shooting for 1550 lb. 3x4 bales with Krone 1290HDP balers, for direct export on shipping containers.  They have struggled to get favorable baling moisture conditions with these conventional balers to meet their bale weight specifications.  The DewPoint System will  allow them to create the right baling moisture conditions to meet or exceed their bale weight targets.  They will also be able to increase their baling speed significantly and run for at least 12 hours daily if they need to.

We will keep you posted on these and other real life scenarios this  this coming season.
